Advancing Maternal Health: ACEPHAP at the Pre-eclampsia Summit in Kigali
Last month, Prof. Hadiza Shehu Galadanci, Director of ACEPHAP, alongside other leading healthcare professionals, participated in the Pre-eclampsia Summit held in the capital city of Kigali, Rwanda. The summit brought together experts, researchers, and policymakers committed to addressing one of the most pressing challenges in maternal health.
Pre-eclampsia remains a significant global health concern, affecting approximately 6 million women each year. The burden is particularly severe in low- and middle-income countries like Nigeria, where nearly 98% of maternal deaths linked to hypertensive disorders in pregnancy are recorded.
At the summit, participants engaged in critical discussions and shared innovative strategies aimed at ending preventable deaths caused by pre-eclampsia. These conversations focused on improving early detection, strengthening healthcare systems, increasing awareness, and ensuring access to quality maternal care.
ACEPHAP remains dedicated to advancing research, policy, and practice that improve maternal and child health outcomes. Participation in global platforms like the Pre-eclampsia Summit reinforces our commitment to collaborative solutions and impactful action.
Together, we can work towards a future where no woman loses her life to preventable pregnancy-related complications.
